Slow Start to 2011 for Ice House Road

Hey there Outlaws,

So 2011 is here and we've only played 1 show. It was a good one, but still only 1! We've got to do something about that people! Well, we are, you can catch us next at the Court Cafe and Pub in Louisa, Virginia on Saturday night, March 12. And soon to follow dates at Durty Nelly's in C-ville, and possibly some dates in Waynesboro, Staunton, and the Bull Rides in Gordonsville.

As for that one great gig so far, it was our our new favorite establishment, The Dogwood in Palmyra. We like it so much because they are wonderful people there. Great staff, nice place to play, we can smoke there, and they let us jam as loud as our little amps will go. We also like The Dogwood because it didn't close soon after we played there like several other establishments (Rivals, Deuces, Rocktown; RIP.)

Part of the reason we've not been out and about is because Bobby Sims has been quite the busy bullfighter. He earned SEBRA Bullfighter of the year and took a wild ride fighhting bulls at the SEBRA National Finals in Tenessee in January.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind that you some of our favorite gigs, where we really shine, is at your party. Having a wedding? Memorial Day Celebration? Big ol' family get together? Barmitzvah? We'll bring the outlaw country, just email us to get the party started with some IHR! icehouseroad@gmail.com

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

IHR fans,

From all of us at Ice House Road to all of you, Happy New Year. We finished up 2010 rocking a New Years Eve Party at The Dogwood in Palmyra Virginia. The crowd was great, Snooky on the big screen was, uhh, well, Snooky on the big screen, and we had a fantastic time playing some music for everybody there.

The very next night we drove up to Wintergreen resort and rocked The Edge restaurant. On the way up the mountain we encountered some VERY dense fog. We weren't sure if it was snow from the snow blowers on the slopes getting blown around by the intense wind, or if it was really fog, so Gary decided to call it SNOG. We couldn't stop saying SNOG all night.

It was awesome to play a show with a real soundman. Rezz from Innovative Audio and Sound provided all the amplification, speakers, mics, cords, monitors, and the "magic" button on his soundboard that made us sound like we knew what were doing. All we had to do was show up with our instruments and perform.

I think we gave away just about the last of the 500 CDs we had printed earlier this year up at Wintergreen. And hopefully some of those CDs are being listened to right now. And maybe somebody listening to it is thinking, 'man, these guys are great' and is considering hiring us to play at their next party. If that's you, please contact us at IceHouseRoad.net

We are taking the month of January off. Mainly because Bobby has to fighting some bulls in Oklahoma, build a fence, then fight some bulls in Tennessee. Did I mention that Bobby Sims is the SEBRA Bullfighter of the year for 2010. That's right folks. Congrats to Bobby. To see what he did to earn this award, click here. And click here for more info on the SEBRA finals, where Bobby will showcasing his skills, click here.

We already have one show scheduled for the rest of 2011. We'll be back at The Dogwood in late February.

Hope to see you all there.

Special thanks to our loyal supporters

Hey all,

Special thanks goes out to the following IHR supporters:

Billy Joe Morris, Tiffany Wagner, and others who went all out in bringing as many people to see us wherever we play, and for throwing such great parties. Let's rock the Hee Haw Garage again in the spring!

All Ice House Road family members. To all the wives, significant others, kids, nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters for your support while we practice and play more often than we deserve.

To Bobby and Adam's parents for the financial support, and for believing in us.

To Gary "Pee Wee" Morris for the awesome band logo and trailer decorations.

To Wes Begoon, Scotty Michaels, Matt Lamb, and everybody else at BLM Bull Company. You gave us our first gig, and more gigs than anybody else. Looking forward to more in 2011.

To all the club owners that have let us come entertain your patrons in the past few years: Deuce's Lounge, The Dogwood, Dice's, Rivals, Northside, Rocktown (RIP) and Grand Junction.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everybody.

Grand Junction, Here We Come!

First off, thanks to all that came out to see Ice House Road at Deuce's Lounge in Charlottesville last Friday night. I know some of you had trouble finding the place, and some of you were frustrated by the lack of hard booze. But I've talked to nobody that was disappointed with the music.

Jerome, the owner has a vision for Deuce's Lounge, and it doesn't involve drunken fights, inebriated loudmouths, or shootings in the parking lot, stuff that plagued Outback Lodge, the previous establishment in that building.

For a band, Jerome is exactly the kind of club owner we want to work with more often. He cares about the music, and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He's done great work in creating a very band friendly atmosphere, a great stage, lights, smooth acoustics, and freedom to play as loud as we want.

We are in talks with Jerome to play Deuce's again, probably in January, hopefully we'll see even more of you there. And next time, I guarantee he won't run out of beer cups :)

Looking for more Ice House Road before 2010 comes to an end? Well, you have two more chances. We'll be at Grand Junction Country Store in Barboursville on December 11, and The Dogwood in Palmyra for New Year's Eve.

The folks at The Dogwood are planning quite the shin-dig for New Year's Eve. A big buffet, a champagne toast at midnight, big screen TVs comfortable seats, dart boards, plenty to drink, and of course Ice House Road. Come spend the last waning hours of 2010 with us, you won't regret it.

Also, don't miss the highlight video of Bobby Sims doing what he does best, keeping bulls from stomping on cowboys at rodeos. Pretty cool vid on You Tube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f_pQpG-Ib0

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we'll see you in December.

Love y'all,
Ice House Road

New Songs, a crazy party, and some cool gigs coming up

Hey y'all,

So, Ice House Road has been staying busy, in many ways thanks to Billie Joe Morris, Tiffany Wagner, Ellis, and friends. Thanks for throwing another party and having us provide the entertainment. Although I must say, you all were pretty entertaining yourselves. Tiffany W's cop costume and Billie's Danica Patrick costume were both breathtaking. I can't get those images out of my head, and I don't want to.

The cops were called twice for loud noise. Can you believe people called the police on us? Well, we are an Outlaw Band (sorry for the lame joke). The cop was cool though, and we got to play every song we wanted to play, so no problem.

We are really looking forward to Deuce's Lounge in Charlottesville on November 11, damn, that's less than two weeks away! Should be a great show, in a nice new club with a decent stage and sound system.

We've recently learned some new songs, and they frickin' rock! If you like "Good ol' Mountain Dew" you'll love our rendition of "Rocky Top." We've also added covers of the best Tom Petty song ever, two great Warren Zevon songs, and a brand new Ice House Original, "Cowboy Code."

And to finish off 2010, we'll be rockin' it up at The Dogwood in Palmyra on New Year's Eve.

Want some non music related news regarding Ice House Road? Here you go:

Bobby Sims is heading out to Kansas this week to teach a Bull fighting school. How cool is that? And the proceeds go to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness, right on. Save the tatas!

I saw a cool bumper sticker the other day, it said "Real Musicians Have Day Jobs." I resemble that remark (at least as much as a drummer can resemble a musician). You probably realize that Ice House Road has not yet reached the point where any of us can quit our day jobs. So, wanna know what we do when we aren't playing music? Read on...

Bobby is a Ferrier, so if you've got a horse needing footwork, he's your man. Gary, Rob, and Adam all work at Crutchfield. Rob's been there over ten years, Adam's been there over 14 years, and Gary's the new kid on the block having been there almost two years now.

We all work in the Sales department, so if you find yourself wanting to purchase something electronic, head on over to Crutchfield.com, and give us a call. We answer the phones and emails. We can help you figure out which TV, car stereo, camera, GPS, Blu-ray, etc to get for yourself, or as a Christmas gift.

How 'bout Charlottesville?

So, we've been playing around Charlottesville, but not in it for the last year or so. Last time we played in the 'ville was at Rivals, and it's time to try it again. Jerome Cherry is the proud new owner at Deuce's Lounge (formerly The Outback Lodge) and he's a tall skinny dude with dreds and a cowboy hat that's wants a good country band to play in his upstairs room.

Gary stopped in, gave Jerome a CD. A phone call or two later and we're booked. We'll be there the Friday before Thanksgiving, hope to see y'all there.

Two weeks ago we played at The Doogwood in Palmyra, and all agreed, we need to go back. We had a great time, as did all the beautiful ladies shaking their stuff. We are working on booking another date at The Dogwood. I'll let you know when we get that squared away.

Thanks for reading everybody!

A private party, a West Virginia Hoe Down, a Fall Festival, and a Bull Ride, and we still want more!

So, Ice House Road has been a little busy these past couple of weeks. Since Gary Hawthorne joined us in our quest to concquer the Outlaw Music World, we've mostly played hour long gigs at Bull Rides, until two weeks ago that is. We played for three and a half hours at Billie Joe Morris's birthday party in Greene Acres and had a great time. The people were great, the burgers and dogs were great, and everybody seemed to enjoy some good old rockin' outlaw music. We were finally able to let our hair down and see what we could do without having to stay family friendly and confined to only an hour of playing time. It was really the kind of gig we needed. Thanks so much to Tiffany Wagner and Ellis for inviting us to the party.

The following weekend we played another party in West Virginia. The 5th annual Sun Rise Ranch Labor Day Wekend Hoe Down. And once again, we brought the house down. Loads of fun, for us, and the great people at the Hoe Down. Thanks to Kris Jackson for booking us last year, this year, and pre-booking us for Labor Day 2011! As much fun as we had making music, the highlight of the evening was our roadie, Chester "Roadie Butthole" Hensley wrestling a steer to the ground. You almost had that bonus bull buddy.

And on September 11, Ice house road did somethine we've never done before, played two gigs in one day. At noon we took the stage at the Taste of Falls Church Fall Festival at Cherry Hill Park in Falls Church Virginia. Then we hightailed it down to Gordonsville for the last Proud American Tour BLM Bull Ride at Oakland Heights Farm for 2010. The rain held off, the crowd was big, and the bulls were extra rank. Also, we showed off just how good we can sound. Thanks to all the folks involved with BLM that keep asking us back, looking forward to seeing you all again at the BLM Bull Ride at the State Fair in a couple of weeks.

Many of you probably have a copy of our CD, "Outlaw Band." We've distributed a pretty huge chunk of the 500 discs we had printed. A special thanks to all that purchased a disc or two. We really appreciate your support, please feel free to spread the word far and wide. Play the disc for your friends, give away your copy after you put it on yourt iPod, buy another one as a gift for a friend.

I'd like to remind everybody that we'd love to play music for you at your party, your favorite restaurant, bar, or club, and of course if you happen to own a stadium or arena, and a huge sound system, we might consider playing music for you and a few thousand of your closest friends. So please keep spreading the word and we'll keep rocking!., You can book Ice House Road simply by emailing us at icehouseroad@gmail.com.

See y'all
